Artists MUST fulfill the following criteria:
1) You must clearly be a Progressive Rock,
Progressive Metal, Instrumental Rock, or Instrumental Metal Artist.
Fossil is legally unable to represent Classical Symphonic, Folk, Punk,
Hardcore, Alternative, etc. due to the presence of three other independent
labels named Fossil Records that servicing these genres.
2) You must have or be in the process of having at least 40 minutes
worth of CD quality music available for CD manufacture and/or distribution.
3) You must either legally own or legally represent the music being
submitted.
Prospective members MUST follow the steps below. We no longer search through websites or accept tracks via email - messages of this nature will simply be deleted. With over 350 emails A DAY being received, we hope you understand.
1) Send a copy of your material (CD, ZIP, or other digital media) to:

Along with your submission, let us know if you are
looking at Fossil Records as a
manufacturer and/or a distributor.
2) Make sure that you have looked over the license
agreement and the Services page
and ask us any questions you may have.
3) If Fossil is able to accept your membership (remember, there is no money
required), you will be asked to do one of the following (depending on what
services you require): a) send a copy of your graphics on CD, ZIP disks, etc. to us for manufacture, or b) send a
quantity (20 is the average number, but you are free to send more or less)
of your pre-manufactured CDs to us for distribution. You MUST include a copy of
the signed license
agreement with your shipment - without this, we will not be able to
duplicate and/or distribute your materials.
If you would like to have your CD manufactured by Fossil Records, then you will need to submit the following materials exactly as specified below:
1) A fully completed master CD with all audio tracked properly and all data - if any - placed after the audio (mixed mode).
2) All of the graphics in TIF or GIF single-layer format (compressed graphics like JPG are not acceptable), at 300 DPI minimum (we prefer 600 DPI). Dimensions are as follows:
Insert Pages - each panel 4.75" x 4.75" for a 4.75" x 9.5" total foldout
Tray Card - 5.9" x 4.65"
CD Label - 4.75" x 4.75"Any deviation will result in significant delays or rejection of a submission. Contact us if you have any questions.
Your band is included in the website, a file is generated in Microsoft Excel for your profits and debits, and your merchandise is added to the credit card server. You will then be contacted periodically for promotional input. For example, you will be asked if you want to send one of your CDs to Progression Magazine for review - if you agree, then your CD will be added to the shipment and the cost of shipping will be split between all of the artists involved. We also produce an instrumental collection called "AXcavation" and a progressive collection called "UnEarthed", using songs that have been licensed to us by our artists.
