"Peter Barcott takes his own advice on Keep It Simple Stupid and delivers an approachable slab of instrumental rockers that intersperses shred sensibilities with hard rock song craftsmanship. Barcott covers a lot of ground on K.I.S.S showcasing his superior guitar skills. Many stylistic avenues are explored making K.I.S.S a well-rounded and enjoyable listening experience.

Drawing heavily on influences that range from Eddie Van Halen, Jim Matheos, and Vito Bratta to George Lynch. Keep It Simple Stupid is like a time capsule that delivers the best of 80’s guitar rock. The songs put forth on Keep It Simple Stupid are not just instrumental wanking. Each piece is a brilliantly crafted song that could quite easily accommodate a vocal performance. All the songs featured on K.I.S.S are so diverse that the CD should appeal to just about anyone who can appreciate top quality guitar playing combined with solid composition.

Highlights include:

Title Track “K.I.S.S” – a juiced up rocker with smoldering rhythm and some way cool tapping sequences that remind one of early day Van Halen.

“Weep” – a beautiful acoustic ballad that delivers a very strong performance from Peter, highlighting his formidable compositional abilities along with some great acoustic picking. Reminds me of White Lions – When The Children Cry.

“Blackhole” – a great tapping intro that leads into an all out shred fest. Good use of exotic scale sequences that give the track an epic feel.

“Don’t be Mad” – can you say epic ballad! Choruses are delivered with clean shimmery layering that contrast nicely with the massive distortion driven main melody. This tune is executed flawlessly with some great emotionally infused blues/shred soloing.

Barcott seems most at home when delivering a catchy, melodic rocker. He has a great command of 80’s style guitar playing delivering all the best elements from that era. All the songs found throughout K.I.S.S are radio friendly type songs delivered with integrity and an unbelievable sense of timing and melody. Keep It Simple Stupid showcases Barcott’s diverse range of ability and introduces a unique new guitar talent." - Mike Sandomirsky, Guitar Mania
