The opening track, "Revealer of Secrets," begins with the spoken
word from vocalist/keyboard player Dave "Fritz" Ayala before a
middle-eastern tinged keyboard passage for the intro. Shortly after that this
changes into a charging drive. Drummer Art Saavedra and guitarist Dave Diorio
handle the backing vocals along with Fritz. Midway through this song we are
treated to a well-performed guitar solo by Dave that shows his blistering-but
not-for-shred's sake talents. Next up is "Fallen Rain," a full-on,
heavy rocking crunch that begins at the intro where the bass playing of Corey
Sorrenti is a driving factor. As with many first showings from a new group,
vocals can be a very picky issue for listeners. Fritz manages to convey his
emotions in his work and I feel when they are ready to present their next CD we
should hear more growth and maturity in his performance. "Strife" is
next up, and this intrumental is a smoker - with a dark but in no way depressing
vibe. You can really hear the frenetic energy in Art's drumming along with a
strong keyboard delivery by Fritz. While Dave shows us more of his guitar work,
Corey is right there keeping pace with him. This is a real standout track, as
you can hear just how strong the band's musicianship really is. The EP closes
with "Thin Ice," which continues with that middle-eastern vibe while
packing a very strong punch and more of Fritz's emotional vocals.
This EP is moody but not maudlin. Vanishment appears to strive for a heavy
atmosphere. The band shows major promise, and this is one EP not to be missed. A
very strong first effort from a band from which we eagerly anticipate hearing
more." - Coldfire, ProgRadio.net

"This
four man band out of Las Vegas, Nevada is a new independent breath of fresh air
on the progressive metal scene. This could be called a 'selfish' EP as it is
self produced, self recorded and self financed, and yet has none of that
unpolished production that often is found on first EPs from young independent
artists. This EP is steps ahead in style, lyrical content and musical
composition. Consisting of four songs, this is an excellent representation of
the style of music we can expect from this group.
